Shoulder Pain From A Chest Workout? Here's How To Fix It!

Hi I'm Dr. Joe DeMarco, chiropractor and owner of Ocramed Health, and on today's FREE injury treatment and prevention Youtube video, I'm demonstrating how to fix anterior shoulder pain caused by chest exercises.

Many weight lifters (especially bodyweight athletes) experience pain in the front of their shoulders following chest workouts, whether from bench pressing, dumbbell presses, or other bodyweight exercises such as push ups.

Anterior shoulder pain can range anywhere between mild and severe. A common location of anterior shoulder pain is over the coracoid process of the scapula. There are 3 important muscles with attachments to the coracoid process. The pec minor, the short head of the bicep, and the coracobrachialis. This video focuses on treating pain in the coracobrachialis.

The coracobrachialis is a small muscle which attaches to the coracoid process of the scapula and attaches about midway down on the anterolateral surface of the humerous.

The coracobrachialis is placed under a lot of stress during chest workouts, continuously causing microtraumas to the muscle and fascia. When left untreated, the coracobrachialis will collect a significant amount of fascial adhesions, increasingly restricting your movement over time.

Dr. Joe demonstrates how to perform myofascial release therapy on this small, little known muscle in order to return the tissue back to it's normal elastic state, greatly reducing your anterior shoulder pain following chest workouts.
